Phone Calls and Advice

Our phone staff is available 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday during office hours. On Saturdays, the staff is available 8:30am to 1pm.  Please be prepared to give the phone staff the following information:

  • your child’s name and birthdate
  • symptoms
  • temperature
  • length of illness
  • specific concerns

If the problem (during regular business hours) requires a doctor or nurse practitioner’s attention, he or she will return your call at the earliest opportunity or our phone staff will call you back after the they review your chart and give guidance regarding your concern.  Sometimes, the patient portal may be the fastest way to communicate directly with the provider. (see below)

For non-emergent advice or information, call mid to late-morning or early to mid-afternoon. The phones are busiest early in the morning, late afternoon and on Mondays in general.

We also offer the ability for you to ask questions electronically. Non-urgent questions can be sent via ESD Patient Portal. Our goal is to respond to these emails within 24 hours.

Telephone calls after hours are for urgent problems only. As of June 4, 2024, after hours calls will be handled by a nurse triage service.  An experienced pediatric RN is available to answer questions that cannot wait until the office reopens.  This RN also has the ability to do a quick telemedicine visit as well as view pictures that a parent can submit to help in evaluation and recommendations if necessary.  There is a $25 charge billed directly to the patient for this medical advice service after hours.
